Recipe: Tangy Vidalia Onion Brussels Sprouts 

I have a love/hate relationship with Brussels sprouts. I love the nutrients they provide and the way they look on a plate. I love the outside of the sprout when it's charred and savory. But, I hate the potent flavor when you bite into them and reach the bitter middle. I have tried several methods to disguise the taste enough to make it palatable to myself, yet still give my youngest daughter the Brussels sprouts she loves. 

This recipe was my saving grace. The inspiration simply came from opening the refrigerator. I used ingredients I already had and the sprouts were frozen so this scrumptious side was pretty inexpensive. I hope your family enjoys this as much as mine did.

Total time: 40 mins (10 mins prep; 20 mins bake; 5 mins broil; 5 mins to cool)

Serves 4-6
You will need:

2 bags frozen Brussels sprouts, thawed

1/2 pack bacon (approx 6 pcs) cooked and crumbled 

1 cup Ken's Vidalia onion dressing

3 tbsp spicy brown mustard

3 tbsp bacon grease

2 tsp lemon juice

Salt & pepper to taste

Optional: 

Crushed red pepper to taste

Parsley to taste

Directions:

Cut sprouts in half and lay cut side up on greased pan

Combine dressing, mustard, grease, lemon juice, and spices until smooth

Drizzle sauce over sprouts

Sprinkle bacon crumbs over sprouts

Bake at 375* for 20 minutes

Broil until brown

That's it! A retry simple recipe that your family will love. This would also be a great side dish for a holiday meal. Your guests will be pleased with the surprising flavors and you will love how easy it is to prepare.
